Weather in Malta:
For one warm summer night in late June, the island of Malta becomes the Isle of MTV. It’s the largest open-air concert with free entrance in Europe, which takes place on the wide, open space of the Granaries in Floriana. Massive crowds of some 50,000 people flock to the show every year to jump and shout to the tunes of international superstars flown in to thrill the crowd with their performances.
Some of the biggest names in music have graced the stage, including Lady Gaga, the Black Eyed Peas, Flo Rida, Nelly Furtado, David Guetta, Kelis, the Scissor Sisters, Maroon 5, Enrique Inglesias, Snoop Dogg, Garbage, One Republic, the Gorillaz and N.E.R.D. among others.
You might have already seen one of the concerts, as the performances are filmed and edited into a 60-minute special that is later broadcast across 20 MTV channels across Europe.
If you’re planning on heading to the concert, do remember that entrance is absolutely free of charge, meaning that it’s on a first-come-first-served basis. If you want a good spot right in front of the stage, we recommend that you plan ahead to be there early.
