Weather in Malta:
Selmun is an area in the northwestern part of Malta very close to the village of Mellieha. Upon entering Mellieha on one’s right there is the Selmun Palace dominating the Mistra valley. The palace that exists today was built in the early 18th century. During that period, Selmun Palace was hired to Knights of St. John as a place to relax and to hunt wild animals like rabbits that existed in the surrounding lands. Selmun Palace is very large with two floors, four turrets and a number of embrasures on them to look like a fortified palace. The aim was to give the impression that the area was well defended and to keep Muslim Corsairs away from the area.
Ghajn Hadid Tower, the first tower to be built by Grand Master Martino de Redin is also found in Selmun together with Fort Campbell, a Bristish fortification. The main scope for the building of Fort Campbell was to protect the approaches for Mellieha and St. Paul’s Bays.
