Weather in Malta:
Mġarr is the largest fishing village in Gozo. In addition to the ferry terminal, a yacht marina is also located in the town. When approaching Gozo by ferry one can view the cliffs, valleys and the Gothic style church of our Lady of Lourdes that overlook the harbour.
A regular ferry service from Mgarr to Malta dates back to the twelfth century when the first passage service was recorded. At that time, Mgarr was a shallow harbour only used by small crafts and was quite exposed from the south west winds and the south east winds as it did not have a breakwater but only a small jetty used by passengers to board and descend from the boats, and by the fishermen to unload their catches.
Nowaday Mgarr enjoys a new ferry terminal used by the Gozo Channel Company ferry service, which operates every 45 minutes during the day.
